Project's Abstract

Institute of Food Bioresources is involved in the Contract no. 15/01.03.2009, within Operational Programme: SOP IEC – Sectoral Operational Programme "Increase of Economic Competitiveness", Priority Axis: PA2: Research, Technological Development and Innovation for Competitiveness, Key Area of Intervention: KAI2.2: Investments in RDI infrastructure and related administrative capacity, Operation: O2.2.1, with the budget 37100157 lei for implementation of project Increasing of Quality and Competitiveness of R&D Activity of the Institute of Food Bioresources, acronym: BIOCALIT. The project is cofinanced by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Life time of the project is between 1st of March 2009 and 28th of February 2012 and the address is Bucharest 2, 5 Băneasa Ancuţa Street.

The project consists from 4 components: investments componentrepresented by designing and building of a new building which involve rennovation, modernization, reconcilement and compartment in new spaces for new laboratories, existing activities and pilot plants; acquisition component of new laboratory equipments, devices and tools for pilot plants, furnitures and softwares; component concerning administrative capacity enhancement and component of project management with communication and publicity activities, as well as those for technical and financial reporting.

First 2 components are taking into account a new building with basis area of 1058 sqm for groundfloor and one level:

   - groundfloor: chromatography, NMR and sensorial analysis laboratories, 3 pilot plants and a conference room. Pilot plants will be designed according with in force hygiene legislation, having a filter rest room for the personnel.

   - the level: nutrition, colloidal biochemistry, physic-chemical laboratories, packaging laboratory, molecular analyses laboratory (PCRs–PCR and electrophoresis), microbiology and fermentative laboratories, the last 3 ones having a filter rest room, according with hygienic rules, such as to be established the personnel, samples and activities flows to avoid samples cross-contamination.

The other 2 components are: administrative capacity enhancement with institutional management improvement and funding instruments access, and project management, which will be organized and achieved by 5 people from IBA: project coordinator, technical, acquisition, financial and juridic responsibles. Also, through communication and publicity activities will be elaborated communication products (press releases, publicity, web site, flyers, brochures, articles, etc).
